Toledo Jazz and Black history celebrated at local cafe Black History Month

The events will take place at the Peacock Café from February 1st to February 28th, 2023. The café will be hosting Black History Month events, which will feature a variety of performances from renowned musicians and legends.

“It’s a great time to be a jazz fan in this city,” Wright said. “There’s a lot of great music happening, and it’s a great time to be a jazz fan in this city.”

The Rise of Jazz and Soul in Toledo

Toledo, Ohio, a city known for its rich industrial heritage, has been quietly embracing a new wave of jazz and soul music. The city’s vibrant music scene has been gaining momentum, with a plethora of events and concerts taking place throughout the year.

A City’s Love Affair with Jazz

Toledo’s love affair with jazz began decades ago, with the city’s first jazz club opening its doors in the 1950s. Since then, the city has been a hub for jazz enthusiasts, with numerous clubs, festivals, and events celebrating the genre. However, in recent years, there has been a noticeable shift towards a more diverse range of music, including soul and R&B. Some of the key factors contributing to this shift include: + The rise of social media platforms, which have made it easier for artists to connect with fans and promote their music. + The growth of the music festival scene, which has brought a wider range of acts to the city.

While Naima Shamborgaer was not able to perform on Feb. 13, due to a snowstorm, Wright says they will have her at the Peacock in February.
